Girls on Tour!!

September is already shaping up to be a very busy month! After a very busy show at Newmarket Racecourse last Sunday, Jo and Anna are off this Sunday to watch the lovely Chris competing in his Ironman event in Wales. Then they are straight off to do some very exciting buying in Harrogate We have lots of exciting things happening so please keep your eyes peeled to our Facebook page!

As always we are always thinking ahead here at Shades of White and now more than ever as we have such a jam packed September coming up!

 

Here is our Calendar for the Month of September!

 

SUNDAY 6th - Newmarket Wedding Fair This is a huge show and great if you are in the early stages of planning as there are just so many ideas!

 

SUNDAY 13th - Our lovely friend of Shades of White, Chris Gale, is doing his first ever Ironman event in support of Macmillan Cancer support, it includes a 2.4mile Swim, 112mile Ride & 26.2mile Run all in one day! SUNDAY 20th - We are in two venues this weekend, Jo will be at the fabulous Springfield's Wedding Fair in Spalding and Anna, Kim and our models will at the Menzies hotel in Bar Hill. Lots of inspiration at both events, so why not pop and say hi!

 

FRIDAY 25th - SUNDAY 27th - We are once again packing our bags and heading to London for the amazing National Wedding Show. This year we are so excited to announce that we are lucky enough to be taking the entire 2016 collection by Justin Alexander. This really is a treat as it won't be in any shops yet so it really is a UK exclusive and to top it all of our very favourite designer, Tony, from Justin Alexander will be joining us on the stand to talk you through his beautiful collection!

It's been such a long time since our last blog because we have been just soooo busy! We have loved helping all of our summer brides as they get ready for their big days! Our designer weekends are incredibly popular and because of such high demand for the last Maggie Sottero event we are spoiling you by having another one! All the Colours of the Rainbow!

We are always astounded, as are our brides, when we start unfolding the endless colour swatches from our Bridesmaid supplier Dessy. There seem to be hundreds of colours and sometimes we wonder where the bizarre sounding names come from, so we've done a little bit of research and its all much clearer now!

There are some obvious comparisons....

From Periwinkle to Espresso and Apple slice to Amethyst there are some colours we can just imagine.

Then we get to the slightly more unusual names and our imaginations run wild. So here is what we have discovered...

CONCORD - Nothing to do with high speed air travel, this colour actually refers to the dark Blue/Purple of the concord grape.

CELADON - A beautiful pastel green this is actually a term for ceramics denoting both the glaze and the colour. Originating in China the production of this ceramic then spread to other Asian regions.



CERULEAN - A vibrant blue colour, the first recorded use of cerulean was in 1590 The word is derived from the Latin word 'caeruleus' which means dark blue, blue or green. Other sources say it derives from words which mean heavenly sky.



 

There really is more to the rainbow than we knew!

January Competition Winner!

As January draws to a close we truly can't believe how quickly this month has gone! We have travelled far and wide this month from Knebworth to Newmarket and we have met so many lovely brides to be. Samantha Brook, who visited our stand at the Newmarket show, was the very excited winner of our January half price wedding dress competition!

Starting the year with a BANG!!

2015 Has definitely got off to a very exciting start!

We have already met so many new brides who have fallen in love with their dream dress! We have been amazed with the amount of ladies who have applied to join our team and we look forward to introducing the successful candidate very soon! We get to visit some beautiful venues as we tour around showing at wedding fairs, but none are quite as beautiful as Knebworth House. We hope all the couples who visited got lots of ideas!

This weekend we are venturing to Wyboston Lakes where you can catch our gorgeous model on the catwalk and our sale continues in store!
